Offtopic: frustration and unfairness

This page becomes more and more like a typical blog but can’t help it. Sorry.

I’m not sure is it my all growing age or is it the general trend that people seem to become more and more frustrated on the unfairness of the world. Personally I don’t see the world as unfair in the sense that your life is what you make it. However, materially thinking life can be brutally unfair.

Here is a quote from Marcus Aurelius:

“Live a good life. If there are god and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

It is a quite religious quote but never the less, there is a point on it, which I would like to share: live your life so, that you can be proud of it and can see yourself as a good person.

When making decisions I like to ask myself “does it make me happier?”. It helps me to decide and make good decisions. Of course being happy isn’t all you need (thou it is easy to see things through happiness because if something will make me, let’s say a lesser person, I would see that decreasing my happiness as I couldn’t be satisfied with myself).

Another question I use is that "would I like to switch lives with someone who seems to have it all?". My answer is always no. Everybody has their issues and problems. Everybody. And you can’t really judge what are “bigger problems” because the measure is the person himself and his feelings.

So, when feeling that the life is unfair and others for example make more money than you without deserving it: ask yourself would you like to be them (and maybe get many things but then being an ass or having problems you can’t even imagine) or would you like to be the beautiful person you are?
